Dear Divine Creative Heroes and Heroines,
I am sharing a short story today called God Patriots of The First Fire. It looks at the ordinary and extraordinary people who carried the first fire of liberty — not as distant figures on a pedestal, but as living mirrors for the courage, integrity, and quiet steadfastness we are asked to embody now.
Their choices were not made in easy times. Neither are ours. What they kept alive still asks something of us: not imitation, but the willingness to carry the flame forward in our own way, in our own moment.
You will find the full text of the story below. May it meet you where you are and remind you of the fire that you already carry within.
The American founding was not easy. It required undeniable grit and resolve forged from within.
George Washington stayed in the fire of Valley Forge when the army had every reason to dissolve. Winter was wrought with raw mud and lead. Washington held the vision and the vessel, embodying greatness and fortitude as a God Patriot, until a nation could rise through deep and dark revolutionary waters toward liberty and sovereignty it could not yet see.
John Adams stayed and engaged the heavy work when independence was still unpopular. Argument, law, and conscience were the furnace. The grist for the alchemy. The gold was not comfort. The gold was a country that at long last could stand and endure the tests of time.
Abigail Adams wrapped the raw life and hardships of war — farm, children, epidemic, and absence — in steady luminous inner light. She knew the labor of birth beyond the trials and tribulations. She knew and carried the vision and voice of freedom, liberty, and justice for all beyond the weariness and uncertainties. Through pearls of uncommon faith and forged wisdom, she asked that the new world remember the ladies.
Mercy Otis Warren sent a stem of language up through clouded revolutionary waters. Playwright, witness, and historian. The mud was the condition of her time — resistance to the feminine voice she knew must and would be heard. The word was the flower that, time and again, bloomed for others to see as it sought the warmth of the sun’s light.
Benjamin Franklin employed the tools of print, storms, diplomacy, and wit, and stayed steadfast until they served the common good. Franklin exemplified practical gnosis — knowing with purpose. Fire asked. He answered. Greatness through actionable innovation and diplomacy was forged.
Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense when the depths of East and West’s wrestlings of war gave no proof that a new world was possible. Through inner vision, through grit, through the mud, and through abundant doubts, that new world and great nation rose and has endured to this day.
They did not pretend the irritant never arrived. They wrapped it. Heated it. Stayed. And rose.
That is the same work upon and within us now.
September found the oars.
In October, we row. 🛶
If this resonates with you, we are God Patriots here today, carrying visions, awareness, and God-given blueprints of Freedom, Sovereignty, and Natural Law Empowered Rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Rememberingly Yours,
Marie ✨
